What happened to the Michigan economy?

Our economy is in a straight downward dive and no matter how our government wants to portray its’ condition, it’s already in it’s crashing stages. Many of our small businesses and families have been dealing with this unacceptable, life altering, and economic disaster for the past several years, where losing everything they have and just trying to survive is a day to day nightmare. It’s only within the past year and half that our economy has started to become an issue with citizens because it wasn’t as prominent of a concern as it is now. This disaster could have been easily avoided. It was obvious years ago that we were on our way to an economic catastrophe but, like everything else we have been seeing lately, our government allows these things to take their course and deal with it only when U.S. citizens are fed up with promises of change and help that never comes or comes to late. This is one of the many reasons YOU need to become a member of "ITS MY MICHIGAN," so that you know what’s going on in your area and your life, you know what needs to be addressed and what can be done to improve your Michigan.

Our government needs to quit wasting our tax dollars on lame and obviously short term solutions. Based on our present day living situations, it is proof positive that we all must take part in stating our views and suggestions on what is needed to bring back to the strong and prosperous Michigan we once knew. Your view points and suggestions will be used to develop a plan that will begin to rectify immediate problems as well as to develop a long term plan that will continue to foster and restructure a much stronger Michigan and America. Because we are directly impacted by the economy on a day to day basis, we stand a much better chance of correcting these problems by shear motivation as well a clear perspective from our vantage point. By allowing our elected officials, who are compensated well for their jobs, to be the sole voices in the solutions, the problems will only be altered, masked and covered with encouraging words to appease the troubles it is causing. Our economy can only truly be corrected and set on a beneficial path by the people it affects the most. Let’s look at this together to see what we can do to help by our businesses, lending facilities, our local and federal governments and, most importantly, our citizens.

Our businesses need to understand that the days of having all or part of their products made in other countries must stop. Sure, it may save some money and/or the headaches of having to operate a manufacturing facility here in the states, but it does not help to provide incomes and health care for those American workers and their families. Without keeping jobs in the U.S., consumers cannot afford to buy your products anyway. Therefore, all that businesses have gained in short term is lost. Retailers are having to cut back on ordering products because they set in the stores too long and/or may not even place as many orders because they can not be sold. The bottom line is business sales have dropped and our country is suffering, all because of greed. The solution to this problem needs to be addressed now. Businesses must start by bringing back the manufacturing of many of these products to our country and have any new products manufactured here as well. Businesses need to show Americans, now, that they are going to take part in the mission to redevelop, restructure and strengthen America by joining our program free of charge. We will place their companies name and commitment on our list of Truly American Companies, showing Americans that their company will do its part to create a better and stronger economy by bringing back and creating more jobs in the United States and/or by committing to a discounted amount for "ITS MY MICHIGAN" members when using our membership card.

Our lending facilities, banks and credit unions have not dealt with such a quick and devastating situation as they have today. However, this is no excuse for what they have allowed to happen to millions of Americans, which is to loose their homes, destroy their credit and force them to go bankrupt to avoid further collection on balances due on those homes. Most of these were caused by adjustable rate programs that were pushed on people and accepted in an attempt to save their home, build a better credit rating and in three to five years refinance at a better rate. This all fell apart because of a poor economy, which was created by lies and deception caused by inflated appraisals that were based on a fabricated economic base. The fact is, all of these lending facilities abused this information by setting the amount of money they would lend at or beyond what the home was appraised at, taking into account that at the rate homes were increasing in value, it should work itself out in that three to five year period. By doing this with an interest only adjustable rate, it gave the homeowner some money to work with as well as lowering their existing payment for awhile. Well, when these loans were being offered like candy, our economy was already on a major downward direction and did allow people to keep in their homes. These types of loans would and did stimulate the economy for a short period but it was also a huge and reckless mistake that was driven by a perfect way to make a killing in interest payments and still have the full loan due to them as well as a falling economy. The economy obviously dropped below everyone’s expectation, leaving the lenders scrambling to figure out what to do, all while doing what was the norm, foreclosures. It’s time to step up and fix what was done and to do it with a plan that will benefit everyone now and forever. Foreclosure is not today’s answer because there are too many new and pre-owned homes available and these adjustable rate programs have destroyed any chance of the already uprooted families credit to finance anything. The economy is not going to turn around any time soon. Therefore, you won’t be selling homes for awhile but we will be loosing your $%# if you don’t rethink and change your approach to this problem. And I don’t mean a temporary fix. We need a permanent solution…creative and directed financing at no cost or fees, at a fixed rate that gives you one or two points, and or possibly up to a 40 year fixed rate loan to keep their payments at or below what they are paying now…this way you won’t be destroying their ability to afford their home. This guarantees the continued payments on that loan. You will no longer have empty homes that is being vandalized or is becoming destroyed by the elements and lack of maintenance, which only furthers your loses. With this new approach, you will have helped to stabilize and relieve families of one of their worst fears. You now have assisted in keeping our economy stable and have saved investors from an easily avoidable loss. Whatever you do, you need to do it NOW, starting with the most important thing, the stability of our citizens, your investors and, the bottom line, our economy.

Our Government

We need you, the American citizen, to help us by becoming a member of "ITS MY MICHIGAN" so that your voice will be heard. We need to act now, before our government decides to direct a large portion 150 billion dollars to a ridiculous economy stimulus check this year. This rebate will last, for most of us, about a month and will surge into the economy for about two months, with an even greater fallout afterward. We need to take that money and use it to encourage, invest and contribute to companies that are willing to set up shop in the many empty manufacturing plants around this country. We should be offering tax incentives and/or total relief for creating one thousand jobs or more for our citizen. Money needs to be directed toward our security, to real health care programs as well as a special joint program between the federal government and the lending companies to offer adjustable rate loans, a program that will easily and quickly solve this horrific foreclosure nightmare, which is negatively affecting our economy 10 fold. This program could be immediately implemented and begin to show an instantaneous positive impact on our country. If you currently have an adjustable rate mortgage, under this program, the federal government would set a special rate for the lender on these type of loans, which in turn, would be reissued at a lower fixed rate (4.5% interest) to you. If necessary, a longer term loan, at no cost to you, could be implemented so that your payments would be less than you pay now and your rate would not change. It is equally important that lending facilities end this type of lending terms and loan only up to the amount the home is worth at the time of the loan. With respect to all the people that have already lost their homes to foreclosure due to these adjustable rate programs…there are only two ways to repair such a devastating and unacceptable wrong that has been done to those people…one, if the home is still vacant, offer the same low rate loan program and, if affordable, allow them to move back into their home…two, remove any and all related negative information from their credit reports so that they are able to finance a new loan to purchase another home. This joint effort will protect many citizens from additional, unnecessary, foreclosures. It will stabilize the economy and it will keep our country strong.
